Wifey and I had 2 good friends over the other night for dinner. These friends are vegetarian, (whereas Wifey and I are not), but it meant we got to make something we’d never tried before. (When I say “we”, I mean 80% Wifey, 20% me)

So we made a Chickpea and Courgette Pie. It had some other stuff in it too (like a lot of Basmati rice, of all things), but the main point of interest was that it was made using phyllo (filo) pastry, in a spring-form pan. Anyway, the meal was a success, I thought, and it was great to try out something we wouldn’t ordinarily have eaten.

Here are one or two pics of the masterpiece, in the making:

I’ve always enjoyed the Boston Globe’s Big Picture series – though I don’t actively follow it: today, I was lucky enough to stumble upon a link to this week’s Big Picture set, “Soccer in South Africa”, on the SARocks website. So, check out all this week’s Big Picture photos here. To whet your appetite, however, two of my favourites:

Spain won 2-0 but both teams qualified for the next stage of the tournament. (PIERRE-PHILIPPE MARCOU/AFP/Getty Images)

I found some very cool pictures of icebergs and other Antarcticy-type stuff. There are some astoundingly beautiful photos at the links at the end of this post, but here are 2 of my favourites.

The picture comes from the Australian Antarctic Division website: so clicky clicky for more great pictures.

Well, I came across this post about Broken Picture Telephone on Deems’s Weblog, and started trying it out. I have to say, its pretty darn addictive!

I suggest you take a look and try it out. Also, you can read a good description about it from Deems, but to paraphrase, its basically a cross between that old boardgame favourite, Pictionary, and that old kid’s party favourite, Broken Telephone, with some hilarious results.

Thats all I wanted to say 🙂
